Kathleen Cossack nee Loades

Just found this website. my father was Walter Loades and my grandfather was William Loades who was chief mate on the garthpool when it ran aground. On previous voyages he was actually captain but was second in command on this trip which ran aground off Cape Verde Islands. apparently this shipwreck could have been avoided as my grandfather was trying to convince the captain he had chartered the course wrongly but his advice was overriden !
