Triangular Sails

by William M. Cook
(Murfreesboro,Tn. U.S.)

What do you call triangular sails?

Thanks,
William

Hi William,

There are two triangular sails on a Bermuda rig dinghy: the mainsail and the gib (or genoa).

The mainsail is at the back and helps the boat point higher into the wind. The gib or genoa is at the front of the boat and powers up the boat to give you speed.

Hope that helps.

Best regards,
Alex
